About Us

My husband, Trevor, left for his third tour of duty with the MN Army National Guard in May 2011. In order to keep our loved ones informed, I made an email list of friends and family and began sending them updates about the deployment and our lives throughout that year. I had gotten many compliments on the updates and photos, so I figured why not keep it up?  I started this blog in February 2012 and it has been so fun to document and share things with all of you.  Better Together (by Jack Johnson) was our wedding song and it seemed appropriate for the blog title, too.  My minor was Spanish and juntos is Spanish for "together."

Trevor and I met in February (on my birthday) 2006.  We very casually dated until becoming an official couple that June.  We got engaged on my birthday in 2008 when he surprised me by coming home on leave from a deployment with the MN Army National Guard.  We moved in together, and with another friend, when they returned from that deployment.  We got married in September 2009 and bought our first home in October 2009.  Trevor and I welcomed Rowdy, our yellow lab, into our home in April 2010.  Trevor left for his Kuwait deployment (his third, our second together) in May 2011.  Very shortly after he left, we miscarried twins.  Immediately upon his return, we became pregnant again and our first baby, Myra, was born January 2013.  When she was 10 months old, she was diagnosed with Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES).  I also blog about mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters, our military lifepregnancybabywearing and cloth diapering.  I had a second miscarriage in May of 2014 then immediately got pregnant again.  Our second baby, Niko, was born February 2015.

In my first post, I explained the basics about the intention of the blog here.

  1. Hi there! I found this blog through Pinterest (researching baby led weaning with FPIES). Just thought it was a funny coincidence that we both have husbands named Trevor, and both our first daughters are named Myra. Anyway, Thanks for your posts regarding FPIES, trying to read everything I can because I believe our son has it.
